Bleaching the roots!

So my natural hair color is a dull natural black, however I change up my color often, I'd say once or twice a year I go a shade of blonde. A month ago I went blonde again from a dark red brown. It was a caramel blonde but I wanted to go lighter. So I did my roots today and feathered the bleach down the shaft to lighten up the over all look and here are the results...

The icky roots (they looked worse in person)

The yellow color I got after bleaching with 20 volume
 The End Result
(the ends are a little more ashy than the roots, I'll be sure to put it on the roots only next time)
 Close up on the ends

The Base (It looks darker in person imo)
The toner, Wella T18 (white lady)
Every time I color hair I learn something more. This time I learned that even tho my roots looked a shade darker with the bleach in before I rinsed it out, it was really just the removed color molecules sitting on the outside of the shaft, they rinsed away when I rinsed it out. So I got a perfect match. I also learned to put the toner on the roots only, I'll just feather it barely onto the ends to avoid a harsh line of demarcation. See Hispanics or people with naturally darker hair CAN have lighter hair! Heehee

I hope this helps someone who has been interested in using the T18 toner, I've had my eye on it for a while but was worried it wouldn't work on darker yellow hair, but it did just fine. : D
